The Why behind the coloring book.

The Muffin and Friend’s coloring book was a very intentional project with hand drawn artwork (that was digitized) of Muffin and her horse friends at Hoof Beat Ranch by local artist Kat Wilson, (she did such a great job!) It took many hours to create each page and develop simple bite-sized messaging.

The goal of coloring book is allow parent’s and caregivers a simple way to talk to children about emotional regulation, mindfulness, resiliency skills, only taking medication prescribed to you etc. The coloring book is written on a level that a child or adult could grasp the messaging and enjoy coloring the book.

“Just say No”, Is not working.

We know through looking at history that just saying “No” to drugs, unhealthy coping techniques, poor relationship choices and so on, is not the best approach to prevent unwanted consequences and harmful patterns. We need to say “Yes” to something else. This is the heart and soul of the Muffin Coloring Book and Mini Horse Outreach program is to provide options for the “Yes”.

Attunement to self, prioritizing self care, and when to know when to get help when the waves of life are overwhelming are vital life skills we hope the Muffin and Friend’s Coloring Book strengthens. The coloring book is not medical or clinical advise but a way to foster conversations of what is our “Yes”. How do we cope when life gets hard? How do we regulate in the presence of stress?

Support the Mission.

We can learn so much from Muffin and her horse friend’s. Your support in purchasing a coloring book allows us to give away a coloring book with our Mini Horse Outreach team. You also are supporting local artist, creativity, and upstream work in the community

If you can not make the event please see Zeffy to support our work and order a coloring book. Please contact us about bulk purchase and digital file pricing at info@hoofbeatranch.org

  1. Upstream- the community work that solves a problem before it happens. Mini Horse Outreach focuses on equine assisted education on drug and mental wellness messaging (safe medication disposal, only taking medication prescribed to you, distress tolerance, regulation etc.) ↩︎
